Bob Marley was and still is a counter-culture icon. Through the 60’s and 70’s, Marley spread his words and wisdom through music. His Reggae style and messages of positivity, peace and love still resound with generations today. Marley was also somewhat of a philosopher. He was a huge proponent of just living in harmony with humans and nature. A very easy-going mindset and way of life.
I know what you are thinking, “Look, it’s Monday. What could Bob Marley possibly have to do with financial freedom unless he has some tips on marijuana stocks.” I am getting to it. First, we must agree that financial freedom is about living life on your own terms. It means having your finances under control to the point where you can leave your job if you want or need to. You are not under control of the cycle of work, get the money, spend the money, work…
Bob Marley, understood that money or the attainment of possessions was not what we humans were put on this earth to pine for. He understood that the best life is living simply, loving deeply and caring greatly.
He has a number of great quotes on his philosophy, but the one that stands out to me is “The day you stop racing, is the day you win the race”
A simple yet powerful quote that echos the sentiment of the financial freedom mindset. Stop the hamster wheel, get out of the rat race and start living life. Start living the life you want and deserve.
Marley knew even back then, before consumerism and credit card debt ravaged society, that to live life on your own terms was the key to a happy existence. He never let society determine his lifestyle, even if it was not the norm.
So get out there this week and make moves that are going to give you the freedom we all crave. In the words of Bob Marley himself, “Don’t worry about a thing. Every little thing, is gonna be alright.”
